FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Caracal Reaches Settlement with CreeFORD CITY, PA, April 25, 2006 - Caracal, Inc. (“Caracal”) announced today that it has reached a settlement with Cree, Inc. (“Cree”). As part of this settlement, Caracal has assigned U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 10/426,200, entitled Phase Controlled Sublimation and filed April 30, 2003 (U.S. Patent Publication No. 2004/0216661 A1) to Cree, and has granted Cree a royalty-free non-exclusive license to U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 10/431,819, entitled Chemical Vapor Deposition Epitaxial Growth and filed May 8, 2003 (U.S. Patent Publication No. 2004/0222501 A1). Cree also granted Caracal a non-exclusive, royalty-bearing license to U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 10/426,200 as part of the settlement. The remaining terms of the settlement are confidential. Caracal is an early stage advanced materials company focusing on the manufacturing of silicon carbide wafers. Based in Ford City, PA, Caracal has transformed an abandoned brownfield site into a state-of-the-art production facility, manufacturing both semi-conducting and semi-insulating silicon carbide wafers. ### |
